Monkaaba collective set.
The Detail.
Two coffees from Monkaaba, a Colombian producer collective sharing one set-up, founded by Angel Ortega and imported by our partners at Semilla. One is from Ventures and one from Rarities. Both come from families who have learned patience on the farm, and each is a very different expression of what that patience can produce.
Mauricio Montanchez.
Grown at 1600 MaSL on Los Guaduales in San Agustín, Huila, on the share of land Mauricio has farmed since his father’s passing. The cherries go through a long double fermentation and dry slowly for up to 20 days. It’s a delicious cup for colder mornings.
Marleny Imbachí.
Marleny and Augusto Ortega planted their first Gesha trees in 2021. Four years later, those 1,400 trees gave roughly double the yield Gesha usually allows. This lot comes from that harvest, and it’s our rarest of the season.
