WatchHouse 10th Anniversary Celebrations.

This September, as part of our 10th-anniversary celebrations, we’re heading back to where it all began—Bermondsey. WatchHouse opened its doors here in 2014, and over the past decade, Bermondsey has remained close to our hearts. That’s why we couldn’t think of a better place to celebrate this milestone than at the Bermondsey Festival.

A decade of Modern Coffee.

From our first House on Bermondsey Street to 20 locations across London, Bath, and New York, WatchHouse has always been about more than just coffee. We’ve focused on creating spaces where community, design, and exceptional coffee come together. The Bermondsey Festival is an opportunity for us to reconnect with the community that helped us grow, and we’re excited to share our journey with you.

What to expect at the Bermondsey Festival.

We’ve got a full day of activities planned for the festival, making it a celebration you won’t want to miss. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s in store:

Event details:

  • Date: 21st September 2024
  • Location: Bermondsey Street, London

Running order:

  • 8:00 AM - House Opening: The festivities kick off early! Our House will be open from 8:00 AM, welcoming everyone with fresh brews and balloons - the perfect start to a day of celebration.

  • 10:00 AM - History Talk with Local Favourite Hugh: Hugh will be sharing the fascinating history of the Watch House building at the Bermondsey Festival. He’ll delve into its origins in the 1830s, when it served as a local law enforcement hub, and explore its connections to the nearby Bone House and St Mary Magdalen Church. Through engaging stories and intriguing facts, Hugh will bring to life the rich heritage of these historic sites and their importance to the Bermondsey community.
Hugh Keyte

Hugh Keyte is a local Bermondsey resident who has patronised the WatchHouse since it first opened. He is a musicologist by profession, having lectured at Bristol University, produced for BBC Radio 3, and more recently specialised in restoring defective multi-choir works by Giovanni Gabrieli for recordings by the Gabrieli Consort, the Taverner Choir, the choir of King’s College, Cambridge, and I Fagiolini.
