This washed Batian varietal is our first-ever release from Tanzania, produced at the renowned Ngila Estate in Arusha. Nestled on the edge of the Ngorongoro rainforest, Ngila Estate focuses on sustainable farming practices and quality, evident in their ecological approach to water use and biodiversity through native tree planting.

 

The Batian varietal, known for its resilience and vibrant profile, shines through in this classic washed process. Harvested mid-2024, the cherries were sorted, pulped, and fermented for 15 hours before drying on raised beds for 14 days. Finally, Rafiki Coffee Mill in Moshi prepared the lot for export, through optical and density sorting, ensuring exceptional cup quality.

 

Our first-ever release from Tanzania, this washed Batian is the ideal profile for our Rituals range: clean, balanced, and structured. We find juicy citrus and berry notes and a coating caramel mouthfeel.
