This Red Bourbon underwent a traditional natural process, with carefully sorted cherries dried on raised beds for up to 35 days until reaching 11% moisture. Shade nets and plastic covers protect the beans from harsh sunlight, rain, and cool nights.

Rwamatamu’s investment in a cupping lab and innovative processing, such as yeast fermentation, reflects their commitment to quality.

Founded in 2015 by Laetitia Mukantwaza and Gaston Rutaganda, Rwamatamu Coffee operates two washing stations in Rwanda’s Nyamasheke District and Mbare. Their work emphasises fair wages, gender equity, and rural development, encouraging coffee cultivation in Mbare’s historically non-coffee farming community.

It’s our second time featuring coffees from Rwamatamu, this time a natural Red Bourbon. Thanks to the slow drying on raised beds, we can enjoy a balanced cup with ripe fruit and floral notes.
