- Info.
Yolanda Ramírez manages a 1.6-hectare parcela in San Antonio Huista, Huehuetenango. After her husband left for migrant work in 2025, she stepped into the lead role, drawing on years of experience working alongside him. Yolanda now oversees every part of the process, from picking to processing, with support from her teenage son.
Coffee is depulped on her father-in-law’s electric mill, then fermented, washed, soaked overnight, and sun-dried over up to five days. It’s an incredibly hands-on operation, with Yolanda in the fields and her son turning parchment on the patio. Their lot is small, but the result is confident and full of clarity.
This is one of the tastiest coffees we have tasted from Guatemala, with vibrant and bright berry notes that remind us of African coffees. Yolanda's lot is exemplary for the excellent quality produced by small farmers in Huehuetenango.
