  • Info.

Don Senel Micromill was founded by Senel Campos in 2014 as a response to poor coffee prices at the time. In his first year, Don Senel processed 300kg of coffee from Finca La Toboba, fitting a motor from a washing machine to an old hand pulper and using the basic infrastructure already in place at the mill.

The micromill has changed quite a lot from its beginnings in 2014, including raised beds and greenhouse drying areas and more modernised equipment and tools. Processing at the mill has also changed from the more traditional practises utilised at first, now involving the measurement and tracking of variables like pH and dissolved solids to control and influence the final cup profile of each micro-lot.

Origins.
Costa Rica.

Costa Rica has two main seasons, dry and wet. The environment is predominantly mountainous with enormous rainforests and cinematic coastlines. This country cultivates only Arabica varietals, including Typica and Bourbon, as well as newer, disease-resistant varietals such as Villa Sarchí and SL28. The coffee farms are frequently situated at elevations ranging from 1,200 to 1,700 MaSL. Costa Rican coffees are known for its bright acidity, clean cup profile, and a well-rounded body. Common flavour notes include citrus, floral, and fruity understonesm along with pleasant sweetness, often reminiscent of honey or caramel.
