Horizons.

This coffee is grown by smallholder farmers in the Buku village of Ethiopia’s West Guji zone at an impressive 2,350 MaSL. Processing is overseen by Esayas Bareso at the Buku washing station. Local farmers cultivate varieties 74110, 74112, and 74158, developed by the Jimma Agricultural Research Centre.

The cherries are hand-harvested and carefully sorted before drying on raised beds, where they are frequently turned to reach the ideal humidity. After drying, the coffee undergoes a final hand-sorting to ensure quality before export, producing a distinctive high-altitude coffee from one of Ethiopia’s most renowned coffee regions.

Origins.
Ethiopia.

Ethiopian coffee is known for its unique vibrancy and complexity created by the coming together of wild heirloom varieties picked by hundreds of farmers to create just one lot such as this.

Ethiopia boasts a diverse terroir, with various coffee-growing regions each offering a unique environment. These regions exhibit different altitudes, microclimates, and soil composition, all contributing to unique flavor profiles. Generally, coffee growing regions in Ethiopia falls within an elevation range of 1,200 to 2,400 MaSL. The high altitudes and varied microclimates provide ideal conditions for slow cherry ripening, which results in complex flavors and acidity. These coffees are celebrated for their intricate flavor profiles. These include floral, fruity, citrusy characteristics. These complex flavors are a direct result of the unique terroir and varietals.
